Fueled up and ready for another adventure. The SportsCrew Road Team packed up and pointed the Hummer west, destination...Tunica, Mississippi . Normally this ride would be anything but eventful, but I guess this was our lucky day. The first thing, somewhat out of the ordinary, was a man on the side of the road hitchhiking with sign reading, "DON'T KNOW WHERE! BUT I'LL GIT THERE." Obviously, this very intelligent man wanted to go somewhere, but where? The three of us began arguing whether or not we should stop and talk to this Nobel Prize winning nomad. After 10 minutes of deliberation we decided he was better off with another crew, besides he was now 10 miles back...and that's out of our way, no matter where he wanted to go. Late afternoon the Hummer rolled into Binion's Horseshoe Casino and Resort.
A quick check at the front desk, and off like a wedding ring in a strip club, we were to our rooms. The hotel was an unexpected surprise located in the middle of dueling banjo country. The resort had crystal chandeliers and glass windows from floor to ceiling. Just when I thought I was in a parallel universe, I caught a glimpse of a few locals and knew I must be in Tunica. It had to be Tunica, stretch pants and polyester as far as the eye could see.
The crew set out to find our way to the ballroom where the Jack Binion's World Poker Open was getting underway. As I entered I saw a wonderful site a large room packed full of men, this was a girls dream come true. My suggestions to all of the single gals out there, learn poker, play poker and attend as many WPT events as possible.
After a cold shower and a few shots of tequila I was feeling confident and stepped out of the room to grab a bite to eat at Jack Binion's Steak House. The pleasant decor and conscious wait staff anticipated my every want and need. My lobster dinner came to the table piping hot with warm drawn butter and lemon; I almost broke down and cried. The steak house was exactly what the Dr. had ordered.
Feeling a bit like a school girl on spring break; I gathered my composure and ventured back to the tournament for a little eye candy. My luck had improved yet again, much to my surprise I encountered two handsome gentlemen, Chris "Jesus" Ferguson and Daniel "The Kid" Negreanu. Ladies, these two men are the kind of men your mother would want you to date. I do not believe either one was capable of rude behavior, not to mention easy on the eyes.
Overall, the trip to Tunica was great time, minus a few indiscretions. I, the newest member of the SportsCrew road team would like to personally thank "Jesus" Ferguson and "The Kid" Negreanu for making this women feel welcome in the world of poker.
