The World Poker Tour's Five Diamond Poker Classic held December 18, 2004 in Las Vegas , Nevada was a huge success. Daniel Negreanu took home over $1.7 million, making him the top all-time money winner of the WPT. The eighth stop on the WPT was held at the Bellagio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas . The event attracted 376 players and consisted of a prize pool of $5,470,800.
The final table consisted of Humberto Brenes, Jennifer Harman, Vinnie Landrum , Nam Le, Daniel Negreanu, and Steve Rassi. Negreanu and Brenes succeeded in being the final two survivors, left to duke it out in the last remaining hands.
While remaining on top throughout the final days of the tournament, Negreanu had the clear advantage with more than triple Brenes's chip count as the last four were eliminated. He won the final hand calling Brenes's "all-in," and having a K high against Brenes's 8, with both players having a pair of 7s and 3s.
