11-08-04 - SportsCrew Congratulates Wesley Duncan

Alpharetta , GA (November 8, 2004) - Congratulations to Wesley Duncan, winner of a seat in the 2005 World Series of Poker, given away by SportsCrew last night.

Wesley finished first out of hundreds of players in "BarsWars, an eight-week Texas Hold'em event held at numerous Jocks n' Jill's and Frankie's locations throughout Atlanta. Thanks to SportsCrew, www.GamingClubPoker.com , Jock's n' Jill's, Wild Turkey, Samuel Adams, and 680 The Fan, the event raised over $55,000 toward the Shriner's Hospitals for Children.

The tournament was a $65 donation to the hospital for each player, and was narrowed down to 48 players for the final round at Jocks n'Jills yesterday evening.

The Shriners of North America consists of approximately 500,000 members, and a network of 22 hospitals, that provide expert, no-cost orthopedic and burn care to children under 18. The Shriners had many top members of the fraternity at the event to help out throughout the evening.

Richard De Waal from www.GamingClubPoker.com joined SportsCrew to present the check for $50,000 to the kids of Shriner's Hospitals, and make a drawing for $5,000 cash for one of the lucky players. Tom Bass of Alpharetta , Georgia was the lucky winner of the drawing.

The final round at Jocks n' Jill's lasted a little over five hours, and was a tight race down to the last hand. Wesley and Curtis Cook, who finished second, battled it out for the last thirty minutes amongst a room full of spectators. Wesley wasn't the only big winner that evening though, with the Shriner's Hospitals receiving over $55,000 in donations.
